In this assignment I have learnt to identify and understand different types of materials that are currently used in the industry today. I have also understood better the types and details of the materials that are used in my current surroundings.

Project 1B
Materiality of Space
​​This project introduces students to various types of material that are applied in existing buildings locally in response to local contexts such as climate, concept, aesthetics, structure, occupancy and environmental issues. My group which consists of Deidre Zhang, Lee Jia Xin, Wong Yoke Lin and Gan Sue Jing, have chosen our site to be Fullhouse near KLCC. Thus we have done a detailed research and experienced the material used in the site, and this is our outcome. Enjoy!

Our first stop before reaching Penang is the marble factory. This shows the machine cutting the marble to even pieces.

Site Visit

So we went on a site trip to penang from 26th April 2013 to 28th April 2013. From the site trip, I have learnt many new things like the architecture of different dialects of the chinese. Also, I learnt about the making processes of a marble. Other than that, I have bonded well with my classmates and am able to communicate better. Here's some pictures from the site trip from day 1 to 3, so do enjoy! :)

Project 2
Integrated Material Solution
​​
The second project is an integrated component where it involves material specification for final architecture studio project. Since my final studio project is a futuristic hideout, I would have to know about the most advanced material today. Because of this, I have once again widen my knowledge on the materials used and applied in construction today.
